Summer:
As the hot summer months roll around, you'll want to make a splash at the Encounter Aquatic Centre, located in the heart of Victor Harbor. With multiple pools, waterslides and a splash park, there's something for everyone. Alternatively, take a short drive through the countryside to experience the beach at Port Elliot's Horseshoe Bay. The crystal blue waters are perfect for swimming, paddling and soaking up the warm sun.
Autumn:
The chill of Autumn brings with it one of Port Elliot's largest events; the South Australian Wooden Boat Festival. A four-day event in April, the festival brings together a stunning display of beautifully maintained and restored wooden boats. This event is perfect for families of all ages who want to witness the magic of the ocean up close. Kids can also take part in various activities tailored just for them.
Winter:
Winter may bring a slight chill to the air, but that doesn't stop the fun and excitement. For those after an adrenaline rush, head on down to Victor Harbor and try your hand at shark cage diving with Calypso Star Charters. Their state of the art boat, which is almost as exciting as the cage dive itself, will take you out to shark Alley and give you an experience of a lifetime.
Spring:
Spring brings the ultimate celebration of nature with the Port Elliot Agricultural and Horticultural Show. This event takes place every September and has been running since 1879. The show has traditional horse jumping displays, vintage car shows, craft displays and a carnival perfect for families. It also features a classic country show that has remained true to its roots and is enjoyed by generations of visitors.
All year round:
Port Elliot has something happening all year round, including the well-known Victor Harbor Farmers Market, held every Saturday. The market boasts an array of local seasonal fruit and vegetables, homemade cakes and breads, meats and seafood, and handmade crafts.
Don't forget to explore the beauty of this coastal town on one of the best cycling trails in South Australia - the Encounter Bikeway which stretches along the Fleurieu Peninsula. It provides a scenic, and sometimes challenging, ride that follows the coast and gives cyclists the opportunity to explore the quaint seaside villages of Port Elliot.
